Help needed please ….. Coronavirus update plus membership survey

It’s been about a month since our last update. Whilst lockdown measures are easing, it is still difficult times for indoor sports and squash in particular as there is still no clear sign of when clubs will be able to reopen and what restrictions will be in place when they can. England Squash have indicated that facilities could reopen from mid-July but that would most likely be on a solo practice or 1-2-1 coaching with social distancing basis.

The Committee met last week to discuss the topic of whether to reopen the bar now that bars and restaurants have been allowed to reopen. The unanimous view was that until we are able to have squash operating at a reasonable level, it was impracticable and uneconomical to open. We will of course review this on a frequent basis according to the situation as it evolves.

The Committee are also keeping a close eye on the financial situation. Clearly we have no income at present and we are limiting outgoings to the absolutely critical. We have applied for an England Squash grant and we are awaiting confirmation of whether that has been successful. We will of course update the membership in the coming months.

And now for your help please …..
Because of the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, we are looking ahead and trying to understand what this may mean for our Club going forward … ie. will membership return to play as before, and what will this mean for us financially as we move forward. To that end, please find attached a short survey of 7 questions that will help us get a feel for how you, as members, are feeling. Please can each playing member of a household complete the survey so we can get as complete a picture as possible.

It is anonymous but it will be of enormous help to us and your fellow members if you could spend a couple of minutes to fill out and submit. If you wish to provide more direct feedback to us, plus do also follow up with any Committee member.

Many thanks
The Committee
