Update on Club re-opening status whilst in Tier 3
The good news is that we are able to re-open the club from tomorrow, Wednesday 2nd December. Unfortunately, due to Kent now being categorised into Tier 3, we are only able to re-open the club in a limited capacity.
The table below from the England Squash website is the guidance that they have agreed with the Government on re-opening squash across the Tiers.
For the time being, only ‘solo practice’ and ‘same household’ squash are allowed, along with organised coaching by nominated Club coaches for juniors. There is still some discussion taking place about one-to-one coaching of adults.
All non-same household squash cannot unfortunately take place ie. squash bubbles no longer exist. Unfortunately the court bookings that have already been made that do not meet the 'solo play' or 'same household' criteria will be cancelled and the court booking fee credited back.
As there will be greatly reduced demand for the next while, we are looking to minimise our outgoings as much as possible, and we will therefore be cutting back on our cleaning costs by closing the changing rooms/showers and the upstairs bar area. There will still be daily cleaning of the courts and external areas downstairs.
As you know, the next review of local tiering status is 16th December, so hopefully we’ll get some improvement by then.
The request for members subscriptions will be held back until the club is able to re-open in a wider capacity.
