At the last AGM on 13th Nov’20, the proposal to charge members half fees in relation to the previous years was unanimously supported. However, not long after the meeting, the club was forced to close until recently, and the Committee did not go ahead with requesting subscriptions from members, and so there has been no income from memberships for 2020-2021.
In anticipation of the Club re-opening in May and with the possibility of some semblance of normality returning, the Club Treasurer, Bob Korten, has reviewed the financial situation. With the Club having received approx. £25k in grants from a number of sources over the pandemic period, there is a net deficit over the 12mth period of approx. £5,000, leaving the Club with a balance of just under £40k, which on balance is an excellent position considering. With re-opening, the level of expenditure will however increase, and these reserves will quickly deplete.
The main source of income are the membership subscriptions, and this enables us to invest into the running and maintenance our Club. The Committee are also mindful that we may have lost some membership over the pandemic period, and we have less certainty on what our financial position will be over the next period.
The Committee have therefore unanimously agreed on the following proposal:
Existing members (paid up as of 30th September 2020)
New members:
The proposed fees for 1st July 2021 to 30th September 2022 are as follows:
The Committee is not proposing to hold an EGM to formally seek member’s approval as this is a change from what was agreed at the last AGM, but would respectively ask the members to consider and accept this proposal in the context of the current situation the Club finds itself in.
If there are objections to this proposal, please send an e-mail logging your objection to myself at tim.casey2@yahoo.co.uk and also to the Club Secretary, Alastair Hill, at alastair.lesley@gmail.com , along with a counter proposal by Sunday 30th May. At that point, the Committee will review any feedback and either implement the proposal or propose a mechanism to pass a more formal members vote.
The Committee and I consider this to be the best and fairest way to get more financial security and keep the Club running in the best way possible, and thank all the members for their patience and consideration over these past 12 months.
